Absolute abundance estimation of fish

This was a Strategic Institute Program in collaboration with Institute for Marine Research (IMR). The main goal of this strategic programme was to develop methods and standardised procedures that enable estimation of absolute abundance of fish stocks. NR's responsibility was to provide estimates of the total uncertainty.

ADIMUS ― Adaptive Internet Multimedia Streaming

The ADIMUS project looks at streaming of multimedia on the Internet. We implement methods that adapt to service quality changes, in order to maximise the end-user's subjective experience. Adaptation mechanisms include QoS reservations, encoding schemes and parameters, and routing. The modeling of end-to-end service quality will be used in simulations and evaluations.

Analysis of unpaid and undeclared duties for Norwegian Customs

The main objective of the Norwegian Customs is to prevent unlawful imports and exports and ensure correct declarations and payment of customs and excises duties. By means of its controls the Norwegian Customs reveals irregularities and breaches of the rules. As the controls, such as company audits, are costly, not all firms are controlled. Hence, the controls only reveal parts of the unpaid and undeclared duties and taxes.

ASSET ― Adaptive Security for Smart Internet of Things in eHealth

The ASSET project develops risk-based adaptive security methods and mechanisms for Internet of Things (IoT) in eHealth that increase security to an appropriate level and adapt to the dynamic changing conditions of IoTs, technologies that provide many benefits to the improvement of eHealth.

AvalRS

Detection of avalanches from satellite

AvalRS aims at demonstrating that such a service is possible and that it will provide decision support during avalanche imposed road closures, and to help validate the issued avalanche forecasts. Overview over the affected problem area, specifically the length of the avalanche-affected road section and the volume of snow on the road, are essential for the authorities during road closures.

Bayesian estimation of the climate sensitivity

Our aim is to estimate the climate sensitivity by modeling the relationship between (estimates of) radiative forcing and measurements of hemispheric temperatures and global ocean heat content in post-industrial time. Complex general circulation models are computationally expensive for this purpose, and we use instead a simple climate model of reduced complexity. This climate model is deterministic, and we combine it with a stochastic model to do properly inference.

Our combined model can be written as

yt = mt(xt-,theta) + f(zt) + nt

Bedre oversikt over dokumentsøk

NAV gjennomfører bedriftsundersøkelsen to ganger årlig for å få en oversikt over behovet for arbeidskraft innen ulike næringer.

Behavior of lactating Holstein-Friesian cows during spontaneous cycles of estrus

We have studied, together with Geno, a Norwegian cooperative organization owned by 11 000 Norwegian dairy farmers, and the Norwegian School of Veterinary Science, the frequency of various estrus signs between cows. Cows are inseminated when we believe they are ready to be impregnated. It is not always easy to see when a cow ovulates, but cows give and receive a series of signs frequently when they are in oestrus. Examples can be to rub their head against other cows or to put their head on another cow´s backside.
