Objectives
The overall goal is to develop a cost-effective method for surveying and monitoring cultural heritage sites on a regional and national scale. In particular we aim at:
- Developing automatic detection of remains of burial mounds in agricultural land by locating circular cropmarks and soilmarks in very high resolution satellite imagery
- Extending the above method to vertical aerial photography
- Developing automatic detection of tar pits and grave mounds in forested landscape using airborne lidar
- Developing a graphical user interface which leads the operator through the detection results.
