CREDO – Modeling and analysis of evolutionary structures for distributed services

The objective of the CREDO project is to develop an integrated suite of tools for compositional modeling, testing, and validation of software, aimed at evolving networks of dynamically reconfigurable components. The project will develop a new high-level modelling language Creol, and integrate a formal component model based on concurrent objects. CREDO supports rapid prototyping and automated validation of networks of distributed services implemented by components, focusing on analyzing the effect of dynamic reconfiguration.


Monitoring Climate Change in the Cryosphere

Air temperature measurements show a clear trend of global climate warming during the last decades. The Arctic temperature has increased at almost twice the rate compared to that of the rest of the world over the same period. It has been internationally agreed that climate monitoring is urgently needed in order to quantify and better understand the climatic changes taking place.


This project develops semi-automatic methods for detecting and mapping some kinds of cultural heritage in Norway.

Oppland County now uses a method from this project for the mapping of ancient deer hunting systems and iron extraction sites.

This ancient deer hunting system, located in Nord-Fron municipality, consists of a number of pitfall traps located in a deer trekking route.

Cultural heritage

The increasingly intensive use and modification of the landscape as a result of modern demands for efficient infrastructure and land use (agricultural production, mining, energy sources, leisure/tourism facilities) exerts growing pressure on areas and sites associated with our cultural heritage. The use of modern support technologies is imperative if such rapid changes are to be balanced against the sustainable management of this resource.

Deep Learning for Applications

After 2012 when deep learning based techniques won the ImageNet contest with a clear margin to competing algorithms, deep learning has been called “the revolutionary technique that quietly changed machine vision forever”. For many classification tasks deep learning has drastically surpassed previous state of the art results in classification accuracy. Currently large deep neural networks achieve the best results on speech recognition, visual object recognition, character recognition, and several language related tasks.

DIADEM – Delivering Inclusive Access for Disabled and Elderly Members of the Community

Målsettingen med prosjektet var å utvikle retningslinjer og teknologi for å øke tilgjengeligheten av elektroniske tjenester for eldre og personer med kognitive funksjonsnedsettelser. Elektroniske skjemaer ble brukt som case. Det ble lagt vekt på å øke kunnskap om og forståelse av relevante teknologier og strategier for å hjelpe målgruppen på en best mulig måte.

DIGEKS – Digital Exam

The project develops an exam system for Norwegian schools. The main purpose of the exam system  is to provide a user interface for the exam candidates where it is possible to restrict the use of applications, hard drives and communication interfaces like Bluetooth or wireless zones other than the school's own network. The exam system is developed as a free and open source system on the basis of the Linux distribution Ubuntu.
